Each 5 May, midwives around the world mark the International Day of the Midwife. In Uganda the day is anchored by a national symposium and celebration hosted with partners and the Ministry of Health.
Ahead of the symposium, NMAU invited midwives, students and researchers to submit abstracts describing original research, quality-improvement work and innovative practice from their own facilities and communities.
Selected abstracts were presented to an audience of practitioners, policymakers and partners, giving Ugandan midwifery evidence a national platform — and giving first-time presenters mentorship before they took the stage.
